Who are we?
Anne Lees
Anne has over 15 years of management experience and over 20 in the customer service and sales industries. She started her career with British Airways at Heathrow Airport, where she gained over 10 years experience in the airline industry, before moving onto the new and exciting world of Telecommunications on her return to N Ireland. Anne became self employed in 2003, firstly as a Business Improvement Consultant and since then has specialised in assessment centres for a number of blue chip companies throughout Ireland, as both an assessor and event manager. During the last 3 years Anne saw potential improvements to the recruitment service being offered to employers that she wanted to put into practice in a business of her own, and The Job Spot was born.
Grainne McCullagh
Our IT division is led by IT recruitment specialist, Grainne McCullagh. Following her graduation from Queen’s University, with an honours degree in Economics and Business Economics in 1999, Grainne began a career in customer service and sales. She worked initially in the Telecommunications Industry for BT, and then moved into the airline industry, working for British Airways. In 2006 a career in IT Recruitment came calling, and since then Grainne has developed a great knowledge of the local IT market through working with various IT companies and IT professionals in Belfast and fulfilling their recruitment needs.
Alanna McKee
Alanna has spent over 20 years in the retail trade, in the FMCG environment, home furnishing and latterly in ladies’ fashion. She has held a number of positions within this area and in 2005 decided that she would like to spread her wings and dip her toe into the recruitment industry.
She joined The Job Spot on a part time basis initially as an administrator and quickly found that her flair for dealing with people and her easy manner meant that had found her niche in the recruitment industry where she would be dealing with many people from all walks of life on a day to day basis. She joined the team on a permanent basis as office manager in January 2007.... and now keeps us all on our toes!!
Cheryl Williams
Cheryl graduated with a degree in Human Resources Management in 1998, and launched her HR career within the chemical industry. After four years there she decided to further her career by undertaking interim HR management roles, which included the recruitment and medical research industries. Over the last two years Cheryl has been specialising in recruitment, her favourite aspect of HR. This has seen her completing assessments and managing assessment centres for major employers in Ireland. Cheryl is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Development and is a qualified psychometric tester. With her recruitment experience being on the employer’s side dealing with agencies, Cheryl relished the challenge of improving the recruitment experience for employers with her main focus being the provision of a quality service.
Lynda More
Lynda’s career in personnel began over 15 years ago when she graduated as a member of the Institute of Personnel Development. She became involved in personnel management in the manufacturing industry before moving into the hospitality field – a strongly customer focussed environment. Her entrepreneurial spirit saw her move to the Far East with her husband, and open 3 restaurants in Bangkok and Singapore before her return to N Ireland in 2004. At this time she started working throughout Ireland as an independent assessor for a number of national companies and became interested in the concept of bringing a new and fresh approach to the recruitment industry in N Ireland.
Hints and Tips
• Preparation.   Do some research into the role you have applied for - even something as simple as visiting the company website can yield lots of useful information for you, and show your prospective employer that you are interested in his/her company.
• Be punctual.   If you can't be on time for an interview, the employer will have concerns about your ability to turn up on time for work, so leave yourself plenty of time to get there.  Even do a "dummy run" if this is feasible.
